Marko Šnajder

Marko Šnajder graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in the field of biochemistry. The subject of my diploma was "two-dimensional differential gel electrophoresis in the examination of gastric adenocarcinoma". His research deal with the cloning and expression of recombinant proteins, and further research with these proteins. The research focuses on two proteins, the first being the serine protease pernisine from the archaea Aeropyrum pernix , which is active in more extreme environments (pH, T, denaturants, ...). The use of this protease is possible in many biotechnological processes. Another protein, α-synuclein, may be in several isoforms. It is located mainly in the area of the presynaptic part of the axon, where it can form fibril aggregates that are characteristic of neurodegenerative diseases such as: Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. It is attributed to a signaling role in connection with the secretion and transport of dopamine.
